A refractometer is an optical instrument used to measure milk colostrum. The quality of colostrum can be measured very precisely with this instrument.
Rules for using refractometer:
1. The prism cover of the refractometer should be removed.
2. Place one/two drops of milk on the prism.
3. Then the cover should be closed.
4. Wait 30 seconds for the sample to adjust to ambient temperature.
5. The refractometer should be observed by placing the refractometer towards the light source and squinting the eye.
6. Then the reading should be seen. The desired value should be in the part between dark and light area.
7. After use, the prism and the glass should be wiped with a dry cloth.

Precautions:
The refractometer must not be immersed in water or other liquids. The device can only be cleaned with a dry cloth.
