Product Description
Composition
Each bolus contains Sulfamethoxazole BP 1000 mg & Trimethoprim BP 200 mg.
Pharmacology
Sulfamethoxazole is a sulfonamide antibiotic with broad spectrum activity. It inhibits DNA synthesis by inhibiting dihydrofolate synthetase enzyme & Trimethoprim inhibits DNA synthesis by inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase enzyme. The combination of Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim shows synergistic effect.
Indications
Respiratory, digestive and urogenital tract infections like pneumonia, diarrhea, skin & wound infection, foot rot, mastitis, metritis, brucellosis, arthritis etc. It is also indicated to prevent secondary bacterial infections followed by viral infections (FMD, Ephemeral fever, PPR etc.).
Dosage & administration
Route of administration: For oral administration only.
Cattle & Horse: 1bolus/40 kg body weight daily for 5-7 days.
Calf/Goat/Sheep: ½ bolus/20 kg body weight daily for 5-7 days.
Or, as directed by the Registered Veterinary Physician.
Contraindication
Contraindicated in animals hypersensitive to sulfonamides &/or trimethoprim and birds with known liver/kidney problem.
Warning and precaution
This combination should be used with caution in animals with renal/hepatic disease.
Side effects
Common side effect: Occasionally crystalluria, hematuria and renal tubule obstruction may occur.
Rare side effect: Precipitate in the urine, particularly when given at high dosages for prolonged periods.
Use in pregnancy & lactation
This medicine may cause fetal harm if used during pregnancy.
Drug interactions
With medicine: Local anesthetics of the group of para-aminobenzoic esters (procain, tetracain) may inhibit the activity of sulfadimidine locally.
Hexamethylentetramine (methenamine) must not be given concomitantly with sulfadimidine, as a loss in activity and crystalluria may occur.
With feed & others: Not known.
Overdose
Well tolerated up to 10 times of the daily-recommended dose in dog, 3 times in cat and 5 times in farm animal.
Withdrawal time
Meat- Meat must not be consumed up to 12 days after administration of this medicine. Milk- Milk must not be consumed up to 4 days after
administration of this medicine.

Store below 30° C temperature & dry place, protected from.
