Product Description
Composition:
Each ml contains Oxytocin BP 10 IU.
Mechanism of Action:
Oxytocin is a hormone, influencing the uterine musculature in the late stage of
pregnancy, during and a few days after parturition. It is used for speeding expulsion
of the foetus or foetuses (only in dogs, cats and pigs) and after parturition it
promotes the expulsion of the placenta and involution of the uterus. Owing to its
effect on myoepithelial cells around the alveoli of the udder, it stimulates and
increases the secretion of milk.
Indications:
• Uterine Hernia
• Inadequate Labor Pain
• Retention of Placenta
• Post-partum haemorrhage
• Prolapse of Uterine
• Incomplete milk let down
• Pyometra and insufficient involution of uterus in cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat & dog etc
Dosage and administration:
For intramuscular or subcutaneous injection:
Horses- 0.5 – 5 ml
Buffalo/Cattle- 1-5 ml
Calves/Sheep/Goats- 0.5-3 ml
Dog/Cat- 0.5 -1 ml
Administered by single dose subcutaneous or intramuscular injection and may be
repeated if necessary within 40 minutes.
Or, as directed by the registered Veterinarian.
Contradictions:
Do not use the product in dystocia, due to abdominal representations of the foetus,
until correction is accomplished.
Precaution:
For prepartum use: full relaxation of the cervix should be accomplished.
Side Effect:
In some case hypotension & sometimes anaphylactic shock may occurs.
Use in Pregnant Animal:
Do not use in the pregnant animals.
Storage:
Store at a temperature between (2-8)ºC in a dark, frost-free location. Keep all
medicines out of reach of children.
