Composition:
Each gram Cevit-Vet Powder contains L-Ascorbic Acid (Vit-C) 990 mg.
Pharmacology:
Cevit-Vet Powder is the water soluble vitamin is readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is widely distributed in the body tissues. It is believed to be involved in biological oxidations and reductions used in cellular respiration. It is essential for the synthesis of collagen and intracellular material.
Vitamin C deficiency develops when the dietary intake is inadequate and when increased demand is not fulfilled. Deficiency leads to the development of scurvy, delay blood coagulation, anaemia, cartilage & bone lesions and slow healing of wounds. It helps to keep the Vit-E in good condition in the body. Ascorbic acid enhances iron absorption from gastrointestinal tract.
Indication:
Any kind of stress like heat stress, Adverse climatic condition, Transportation, Pullet replacement, Over crowding, Culling, Vaccination, Anthelmintic use etc. Intestinal ulcers, scissorian ulcer or any kind of wound for proper healing by collagen synthesis. To prevent thin-shelled egg formation in case of excessive environmental temperature. During debeaking to prevent hemorrhage & stress. Supportive treatment in case of coccidiosis for healing of intestinal ulcer.
Dosage and Administration:
Poultry: 1 gm / 5 – 10 litre of drinking water for 5 days.
Side effect: It has no side effect at recommended dose. But mega-doses of vitamin C may cause diarrhea, abdominal bloating, iron-over absorption.
Drug Interaction:
Ascorbic acid is incompatible in solution with erythromycin, nitrofurantoin sodium, sodium bicarbonate, chloramphenicol sodium succinate.
