Indication:
In Cattle, Sheep & Horses:
Babcop injection is highly active against Trypanosoma spp., Babesia spp. and Theileria annulata.
Phenazone is active against fever especially in cases of Babesiosis.
Dosage and Administration:
- Babesiosis and Trypanosomiasis at the dose rate of 5-10 ml per 100 kg body weight.
- Resistant strains of Trypanosomiasis at the dose rate of 10 ml per kg body weight.
- Theileriosis at the dose rate of 5-10 ml per 100 kg body weight along with antibiotic (3-4 antibiotic injections in alternate days).
- Mixed infections / Pyrexia of unknown origin at the dose rate of 5 ml per 100 kg body weight. The total doses should not exceed 56 ml of injectable solution at a time per animal, preferably by deep intramuscular route at multiple sites.
Contraindication:
The injection should not be used in animals hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation:
No adverse effect has been reported at recommended dose.
Adverse effects:
Transient local reactions may appear at the injection site. Dogs and camels are very sensitive to diminazene-toxicity. Overdoses or multiple doses may cause severe nervous disturbances and hepatotoxic reactions. It is advised to use lower dosage rates in these species.
Precaution:
Where volume to be injected exceeds 20ml, administer into two injection sites. Withdrawal Period: Animals may not be slaughtered for human consumption during treatment or within 21 days of last treatment. Milk may not be used for human consumption during treatment or within 3 days of last treatment.
Drug Interaction:
Very few studies have been done regarding this issue and no remarkable interaction has been found with commonly used drugs.
