Product Description

Composition
Injection: Each ml contains Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate BP 2 mg.
Bolus: Each bolus contains Dexamethasone BP 10 mg.
Pharmacology
Dexamethasone, is a steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (SAIDS) which acts as analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties by blocking the
activity of cyclooxygenase-1 and -2 (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes reversibly decreasing production of proinflammatory prostaglandin precursors.
Indications
Mastitis, endometritis, arthritis, laminitis, dermatitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, allergy, ketosis, shock (being hit by a car, attacked by another animal
or usually slip & hypovolemic or surgical shock), Supportive therapy (Insect bite, snake bite, shipping fever, retention of placenta etc.), Induction
of parturition, Immunosuppressive, Nervous system disorder, Blood calcium reduction, Cancer therapy etc.
Dosage and administration
Route of Administration: IM/IV/oral.
Bolus: For oral administration only.
Cattle :
1/2-2 bolus (5-20 mg) daily.
Horse :
1/2-1 bolus (5-10 mg) daily.
Dog/Cat : 0.125-1 mg daily.
Injection: For intramuscular or intravenous use only.
Cattle: 2.5-10 ml (5-20 mg), repeat as needed.
Horse: 1.25-2.5 ml (2.5-5 mg), repeat as needed.
Dog/Cat: 0.50 ml (1 mg) daily for 3-5 days.
In case of shock dose should be 5 mg/kg IV.
Or, as directed by the registered veterinary physician.
Contraindication
Do not use in animals hypersensitive to dexamethasone.
Side effects
Common side effects: May suppress the immune system and muscular weakness may occur.
Rare side effects: “Cushingoid” in nature with sustained use, but acute effects (primarily GI, colon perforation in dogs after high doses) can
be seen.
Warning and precaution
Animals receiving Dexamethasone solution should be under close observation, as it may induce the first stage of parturition when administered
during the last trimester of pregnancy, and may precipitate parturition followed by dystocia, fetal death, retained placenta and metritis.
Use in pregnancy & lactation
Abortion may occur in pregnant animal.
Drug interaction
With medicine: This drug should not be used in combination with NSAID.
With feed and others: Not known.
Overdose
Overdose may result in sodium retention, fluid retention, potassium loss and weight gain.
Withdrawal time
Meat- Meat must not be consumed up to 2 days after administration of this medicine & Milk- Milk must not be consumed up to 21 hours after
administration of this medicine.
Storage
Store below 30° C temperature and dry place, protected from light.
Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
Packing
Bolus: Each box contains 10×4 Boli in blister strip.
Injection: 10 ml & 30 ml vial.
