Each gm powder contains
Chlortetracycline hydrochloride BP 450 mg
Mode of Action
Maxtor Vet powder inactivates bacteria by binding to its 30s ribosomal subunit. As a result, bacteria cannot synthesize protein, which leads to its destruction.
Indication
Maxtor Vet is effective against a wide range of diseases such as Coliform, Septicemia, Omphalitis,
Synovitis, Fowl cholera, Chronic Respiratory Diseases (CRD), Bronchitis, secondary bacterial infections of Newcastle disease and Coccidiosis in poultry.
Dosage and Administration
Water: 1 gm/1-3 liters of water for 5-7 consecutive days, Or,
Feed: 50-100 gm powder/ 100 kg feed for 5-7 consecutive days.
Or as per direction of registered veterinarian/Consultant.
Contraindication
Long term use of Brand name powder retards the synthesis of Vitamin B complex and Vitamin K. The use of Penicillin or streptomycin in addition with tetracycline group is contraindicated for different bacterial diseases of majority of animals.
Withdrawal Period
Meat: 10 days; Eggs: 3 days
Precaution
It should not be used with calcium, magnesium and iron. Once opened the packet should be used
quickly.
Storage Condition
Store in a cool and dry place, away from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
Side Effect
No serious side effect has been demonstrated. Sometimes weakness of nerves, hypotention, ataxia,
weight loss may occur.
