Composition
Bolus
Moxilin-CV Vet - Each bolus contains Amoxicillin 400 mg (as Amoxicillin Trihydrate BP) & Clavulanic Acid 100 mg (as diluted Potassium Clavulanate
BP).
Moxilin-CV DS Vet: Each bolus contains Amoxicillin 800 mg (as Amoxicillin Trihydrate BP) & Clavulanic Acid 200 mg (as diluted Potassium
Clavulanate BP).
WSP
Moxilin-CV Vet WSP: Each gram contains Amoxicillin (as Trihydrate BP) 100 mg and Clavulanic acid (as diluted Potassium Clavulanate BP) 25 mg.
Pharmacology
Amoxicillin is a semisynthetic broad-spectrum penicillin with bactericidal activity against both gram-positive & gram-negative bacteria. It kills bacteria
by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis.
Clavulanic acid is a β-lactamase enzyme inhibitor. Combination of Amoxicillin & Clavulanic Acid is effective against β-lactamase enzyme producing
bacteria as well as non-β-lactamase enzyme producing bacteria.
Indication
Cattle & Calves: Respiratory tract infections, digestive tract infections, soft tissue infections, joint/naval ill, abscesses, urogenital tract infections,
mastitis, metritis etc.
Dogs: Skin & soft tissue infections, wounds, abscesses, cellulitis, anal sacculitis, dental infections, urogenital tract infections, respiratory tract
infections & digestive tract infections.
Cats: Skin & soft tissue infections, wounds, abscesses, cellulitis/dermatitis.
Poultry: For the treatment of gastrointestinal, respiratory and urinary tract infections such as Colibacillosis, Salmonellosis, Fowl Cholera, Fowl
Typhoid, Infectious Coryza, Necrotic Enteritis, Streptococcosis, Staphylococcosis etc.
It is also indicated for the prevention of bacterial infections followed by viral infections such as Gumboro (IBD), Ranikhet (NDV) etc.
Dosage & administration
Route of administration: Oral.
Cattle & Calves: 6.25-12.5 mg/kg body weight twice daily for 5-7 days or Moxilin-CV Vet one bolus for 40-80 kg body weight & Moxilin-CV DS Vet
one bolus for 80 -160 kg body weight.
Dogs: 12.5 mg/kg body weight twice daily for 5-7 days.
Cats: 62.5 mg twice daily for 5-7 days.
Poultry: 1 g/ L drinking water for 3-5 days.
Or as directed by the registered Veterinarian.
Contraindication
Do not use in animals with known sensitivity to Amoxicillin &/or Clavulanic Acid.
Warning & precaution
Do not remove bolus from blister foil strip until ready to use.
Side effects
Common: Allergic reaction, loss of appetite, vomiting/nausea, diarrhea may occur in some cases. Rare: Not known.
Use in pregnancy & lactation
Animal studies failed to reveal any evidence of teratogenicity. However, risk & necessity should be considered during administration of medicine in
pregnant & lactating animals.
Drug interaction
With medicine, feed & others: Not known.
Overdose
It is well tolerated by oral route.
Withdrawal time
Cattle: Meat - Meat must not be consumed up to 4 days after administration of this medicine & Milk - Not known.
Storage
Store below 30° C temperature and dry place, protected from light.
Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
Supply
Moxilin-CV Vet: Each box contains 5 x 4 boli in blister strip.
Moxilin-CV DS Vet: Each box contains 10 x 2 boli in blister strip.
Moxilin-CV Vet WSP: 10x10 g & 100 g.
