Composition
Trizon Vet 0.5 g: Each vial contains Ceftriaxone 0.5 g (as sterile Ceftriaxone Sodium USP).
Trizon Vet 1 g: Each vial contains Ceftriaxone 1 g (as sterile Ceftriaxone Sodium USP).
Trizon Vet 2 g: Each vial contains Ceftriaxone 2 g (as sterile Ceftriaxone Sodium USP).
Pharmacology
Ceftriaxone is a potent bactericidal antibiotic of third generation Cephalosporin. It has a high degree of stability to bacterial β-lactamases and
penicillinases. It is rapidly absorbed and widely distributed in tissues as well as body fluids, with good tolerance after parenteral administration
in animals. It is effective against both Gram-positive, Gram-negative & anaerobic bacteria.
Indication
Trizon Vet injection is indicated for the treatment of wide variety of infections caused by sensitive Gram-positive, Gram-negative and
anaerobic bacteria. This drug has high potential application in respiratory tract infections, acute bacterial otitis media, mammary gland
infections, urogenital tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone & joint infections, bacterial septicemia,
intra-abdominal infection.
Dosage & administration
Route of administration: Deep IM/Slow IV
For deep intramuscular/slow intravenous injection only.
Preparation of solution for injection: For deep intramuscular injection, reconstitute the powder for injection with the following amount of
Lidocaine 1% injection USP or,
For slow intravenous injection, reconstitute the powder for injection with the following amount of water for injection (WFI)

Shake well until the powder is dissolved.
Cattle/Buffalo: 1 g/100 kg body weight once/twice daily for 3-5 days.
Calves/Buffalo calves: 0.5 g/50 kg body weight once/twice daily for 3-5 days.
Goat/Sheep: 0.5 g/25 kg body weight twice daily for 3-5 days.
Horse: 1 g/40 kg body weight twice daily for 3-5 days.
Dog/Cat: 0.5 g/20 kg body weight once/twice daily for 3-5 days.
Zoo animal: 1 g/100 kg body weight daily for 3-5 days.
Or, as directed by the registered Veterinary Physician.
Contraindication
It is contraindicated in animals hypersensitive to Cephalosporin.
Warning & precaution
Do not administer Trizon Vet IV dissolved with 1% Lidocaine injection.
Do not administer Trizon Vet IM dissolved with water for injection.
If any particle is visible in vial after dissolving the contents, please do not use.
Side effects
Common side effects: Rash, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, blood clots, dizziness, headache, pain or swelling tongue,
sweating, vaginal itching or discharge, vaginal yeast infection, anemia, changes in taste etc. may be seen.
Rare side effects: Hypersensitive reactions (acute anaphylaxis or angioedema, allergic agranulocytosis, fever, serum sickness, urticaria,
diarrhea, thrombocytosis etc.) may occur in some patients.
Use in pregnancy & lactation
It can be used safely during pregnancy. Low concentration of Ceftriaxone is excreted through milk, caution should be exercised when
Ceftriaxone is administered to a lactating animal. However, risk & necessity should be considered during administration in pregnancy.
Drug interaction
With Medicine: It may interact with calcium, argatroban, heparin, warfarin, vaccine, chloramphenicol, doxycycline, sodium
picosulfate/magnesium oxide/anhydrous citric acid. In vitro studies indicate a synergistic action with aminoglycosides though clinically
importance has not been determined.
With feed and others: Not known.
Overdose
There is no specific antidote. Treatment of overdose should be symptomatic. However, risk & necessity should be considered during
administration.
Withdrawal time
Meat & Milk- Not known.
Storage
Store below 25° C temperature & dry place, protected from light. For Lidocaine HCl 1% Injection BP reconstituted solution are stable for 24
hours at 25° C & 3 days at 4° C and for WFI reconstituted solution are stable for 2 days at 25° C & 10 days at 4° C respectively.
Keep all medicines out of reach of children.

Trizon Vet 0.5 g: Each box contains one vial of Trizon Vet 0.5 g injection & one ampoule of 2 ml Lidocaine HCl 1% injection BP in blister pack
and a 5 ml disposable syringe.
Trizon Vet 1 g: Each box contains one vial of Trizon Vet 1 g injection & one ampoule of 3.5 ml Lidocaine HCl 1% injection BP in blister pack
and a 10 ml disposable syringe.
Trizon Vet 2 g: Each box contains one vial of Trizon Vet 2 g injection & one ampoule of 7 ml Lidocaine HCl 1% injection BP in blister pack
and a 20 ml disposable syringe.
