Composition
0.5 g Injection: Each vial contains Ceftiofur Sodium USP sterile powder equivalent to 0.5 g Ceftiofur.
1 g Injection: Each vial contains Ceftiofur Sodium USP sterile powder equivalent to 1 g Ceftiofur.
Pharmacology
Ceftiofur is a 3rd generation Cephalosporin antibiotic active against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria including β-lactamaseproducing bacteria. It is a bactericidal antibiotic which inhibits cell wall synthesis of bacteria.
Indication
Livestock
Tifur Vet is indicated for the treatment of bovine respiratory diseases (shipping fever, pneumonia) associated with Mannheimia
haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida & Histophilus somni, acute bovine interdigital necrobacillosis (foot rot, pododermatitis) associated
with Fusobacterium necrophorum & Bacteroides melaninogenicus and genital tract infections (endometritis, postpuerperial metritis, toxic
puerperal metritis, pyometra) associated with E. coli, Fusobacterium necrophorum, Arcanobacterium pyogenes.
Poultry
Tifur Vet is indicated for the control of early chick mortality associated with E. coli in day-old chicks and day-old turkey poults.
Dosage & administration
Route of administration: IM/SC.
For intramuscular/subcutaneous injection only.
Preparation of solution for injection
0.5 g Injection: Shake the vial containing Ceftiofur Sodium sterile powder & then add 10 ml water for injection (WFI) gradually. Shake well
until the powder dissolved properly.
1 g Injection: Shake the vial containing Ceftiofur Sodium sterile powder & then add 20 ml water for injection (WFI) gradually. Shake well until
the powder dissolved properly.
Cattle/Sheep/Goat: 1.1-2.2 mg/kg body weight (1 ml/23-45 kg) by IM injection once daily for 3-5 days.
Dog: 2.2 mg/kg body weight (1 ml/23kg) by SC injection once daily for 5-14 days.
Horse: 2.2-4.4 mg/kg body weight (1 ml/12-23kg) by IM injection once daily & continued for 2 days after disappearing of clinical signs.
Swine: 3-5 mg/kg body weight by IM injection once daily for 3 consecutive days.
Day-Old Chicks: 0.08-0.2 mg/chick by SC injection. 1 ml (50 mg/ml) reconstituted solution will be required for the treatment of approximately
250 to 625 day-old chicks.
Day-Old Turkey Poults: 0.17-0.5mg/poult by SC injection in the neck region. 1 ml (50 mg/ml) reconstituted solution will be required for the
treatment of approximately 100 to 294 day-old turkey poults.
Or, as directed by the registered Veterinary Physician.
Contraindication
Contraindicated to the animals hypersensitive to Ceftiofur Sodium.
Side effects
Common side effects: The use of Ceftiofur results in some signs of immediate and transient local pain at the site of injection of the animal.
Rare side effects: Potentially could cause hypersensitivity reactions, granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia, or diarrhea.
Warning & precaution
To avoid possible allergic reactions, users are advised to avoid direct contact of Ceftiofur with the skin or mucous membranes.
Use in pregnancy and lactation
The effects of Ceftiofur on the reproductive performance, pregnancy and lactation have not been determined yet. However, risk & necessity
should be considered during administration in pregnant & lactating animal.
Drug interaction
With medicine: Not known.
With feed & others: Not known.
Overdose
Cephalosporin overdoses are unlikely to cause significant problems other than GI distress, but other effects are possible (see Adverse Effects
section). However, overdoses in food animals may result in significantly extended withdrawal times.
Withdrawal time
Meat & Milk- 0 (Zero) day.
Storage
Store below 30°C temperature, protected from light. Reconstituted injection may be stored in a refrigerator 2° to 8°C (36° to 46° F) for up to
seven (7) days or at controlled room temperature 20° to 25°C (68° to 77° F) for up to twelve (12) hours.
Keep all medicines out of reach of children.

0.5 g Injection: Each box contains one vial of Tifur Vet 0.5g injection, 1 ampoules of 10 ml water for injection in blister & a 10 ml disposable
syringe.
1 g Injection: Each box contains one vial of Tifur Vet 1g injection, 2 ampoules of 10 ml water for injection in blister & a 20 ml disposable
syringe.
