Product Description
Composition
Each g powder contains Amprolium USP 102 mg Sulfaquinoxaline Sodium 102 mg and Vitamin K USP1 mg.
Pharmacology
Amprolium is a thiamine antagonist. It inhibits the thiamine uptake by coccidia. It reportedly acts
primarily upon the first generation schizont in the cells of the intestinal wall, preventing differentiation of the merozoites. Sulfaquinoxaline inhibits the folic acid, PABA (Para amino benzoic acid) synthesis of coccidian as well as bacteria. Vitamin K has antihaemorrhagic activity. Plasma clotting factors VII (Antihaemophilic Factor), IX (Christmas Factor) and X (Stuart-Prower Factor) are dependent on Vitamin K3 for synthesis. These four blood-clotting proteins are synthesized in the liver in inactive forms and then converted to biologically active forms by Vitamin K3.
