Composition
Each ml contains Florfenicol INN 300 mg & Flunixin USP (as Flunixin Meglumine) 16.5 mg.
Pharmacology
Florfenicol is a synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic which is effective against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Florfenicol, a fluorinated derivative of chloramphenicol
bacteriostatic antibiotic, acts by inhibiting protein synthesis by binding with 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria. Flunixin Meglumine is a potent, non-narcotic, nonsteroidal, analgesic agent
with anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activity. It inhibits the production of prostaglandins and other chemicals that stimulate the inflammatory response.
Indication
It is indicated for the prevention and treatment of respiratory tract infections in bovine due to Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella maltocida, Histophilus somni, foot rot, acute interdigital
necrobacillosis, infectious pododermatitis and acute respiratory disease in pigs associated with pain & fever.
Dosage & administration
Route of administration: Only for SC injection.
1 ml/7.5 kg body weight.
It is to be injected in subcutaneous route preferably at neck region. Do not administer more than 10 ml at each injection site.
Or as directed by the Registered Veterinarian.
Contraindication: Contraindicated in animals hypersensitive to Florfenicol &/or Flunixin Meglumine.
Warning & precaution
Concomitant use of Florfenicol & Flunixine Meglumine with NSAIDs or corticosteroids should be avoided or closely monitored.
Side effects
Common side effects: Anorexia, decreased water consumption, diarrhea, swelling of injection site may occur in some cases.
Rare side effects: Not known.
Use in pregnancy & lactation
The effects of Florfenicol on bovine reproductive performance, pregnancy and lactation have not been determined. However, risk & necessity should be considered during administration of this
medicine in pregnant & lactating animals.
Drug interaction
With medicine: Florfenicol may antagonize the action of Erythromycin, Clindamycin, Lincomycin & Tylosin etc. Flunixine may antagonize the action of NSAIDs or corticosteroids.
With feed & others: Not known.
Overdose
Usually safe at recommended doses.
Withdrawal time
Meat- Meat must not be consumed up to 38 days after administration of this medicine & Milk- Not known.
Storage
Store below 30º C temperature and dry place, protected from light.
Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
