Each gm powder contains
Amoxicillin trihydrate BP 100 mg
Clavulanic acid BP 25mg
Mode of action
Augment® Vet powder is a broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic that belongs to the betalactam group. Amoxicillin trihydrate powder interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis by
inhibiting transpeptidase and carboxipeptidase enzymes and by binding with the "Penicillin
binding protein" of bacteria. As a result, osmotic disorder occurs in the cell of bacteria and thus
bacteria are destroyed. On the other hand, Clavulanic acid is a beta lactamase inhibitor, used
in conjunction with beta-lactamase susceptible antibiotics to treat infections caused by betalactamase producing organisms.
Indication
Augment® Vet powder is used for the prevention & treatment of infections of
Respiratory, Gastrointestinal & Urinary tract and reproductive system in Poultry,
Calves and Lambs, like – Enteritis, Colibascillosis, Salmonellosis, Fowl cholera, Fowl typhoid,
Bronchitis, Infectious coryza, nephritis etc.
Dosages & Administration
1 gm / Liter drinking water for 3-5 days.
Or, as per direction of a registered veterinarian / poultry consultant.
Contraindication
Augment® Vet powder should not be given in case of known hypersensitivity to Betalactum antibiotics.
Precaution
Once opened the sachet should be used quickly. Keep away from light and wet place. Keep under
25° C temperature. Keep out of the reach of children. Should not use any acidifier within same drinking water. Should consume the medicated water within 6 hours.
Side effect
Toxicity is rare, sometimes dermatitis and eosinophilia may occur.
